Community Outreach & Operations
Dov Block was born and raised in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. His mother, a brilliant food photographer, and his father, the family’s tireless chef, planted the seed for his insatiable obsession with food. After completing his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from The Ohio State University, Dov jumped into the world of urban agriculture and has never looked back. He loves cooking for friends, live music, and sipping his french press.
Dov enjoys his role with The Acorn Farm, which allows him to connect people with the food they eat.
Farming & Production
Gavin McCall grew up on a farm on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, but he spent the last dozen years studying and teaching writing in Honolulu, then in Fresno, California, and most recently in New Orleans, where he and his wife found a dog, and a house to put him in. Gavin currently teaches writing at Delgado Community College and spends most of the rest of his time at The Acorn Farm, learning how to make various kinds of plants happy, and occasionally teaching others how to do the same.
He's a big fan of sustainability in all its forms, and enjoys being a small part of New Orleans' greener future.
